Install Hance for Mac

The desktop app is in beta and not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS will warn you the first time you open it. That's expected: follow the steps below and it only takes a few seconds.

  1. 01

    Download for your Mac

Pick the version that matches your Mac. Most Macs sold since late 2020 are Apple silicon.

Not sure which? Apple menu → About This Mac → Chip/Processor. "Apple M-something" means Apple silicon.

  2. 02

Open the .dmg and drag Hance to Applications

Double-click the downloaded file, then drag the Hance icon into the Applications folder shown in the same window.

  3. 03

First launch: clear the security warning

Open Hance from Applications. macOS will say it "could not verify" the app and offer only "Done" or "Move to Bin" - this is normal for a beta build. Open Terminal (⌘Space, type "Terminal") and run:

    $xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Hance.app
  4. 04

    Open Hance again

Launch it from Applications (or Spotlight) once more. It opens normally from now on - you only need to do this once per download.
